1) Any initial thoughts or reactions to the text?

2) Do you think of yourself as "highly favoured"? Can you imagine God / an angel addressing this greeting to you?

3) Do we act because we are blessed / beloved? Or are we blessed / beloved because we act? How do these interplay in my own life?

4) Are you comfortable with the idea of God being dependent on the choices of humanity? Do you find it easier to come to terms with a powerful God, or a dependent, vulnerable one?

5) Does submission require us to be submissive? Can we look God in the eye, or should we look down at our toes?

6) Do I feel like I am invited to be part of creating the incarnation story? How does such an invitation feel?
