1) What reactions, thoughts, emotions and ideas does this text arise in you?

2) The risen Jesus doesn't appear for long. What do you make of this?

3) Why do you think the disciples didn't recognise Jesus on the road?

4) Is it significant that Jesus meets the disciples in movement, specifically walking? Have you any experience of movement changing how you think and feel?

5) The disciples recognised Jesus in a meal, in the breaking of bread. What does this signify for you?

6) Why does Jesus vanish from their sight?

7) As humans we live forwards but often only understand backwards. Are there times when you haven't understood an experience when it's happening, but have come to see more clearly later?
